news8-24-2023It's become the so-called Skid Row for RV homelessness in L.A. County. Now some of the unhoused living in the area were moved to temporary shelter, and the RVs were towed away. Investigators with the Department of Motor Vehicles, L.A. County sheriff's homeless outreach team, service providers and L.A. County animal care - who rescued a kitten and a dog left behind - walked the streets of East Gardena. The unhoused were loaded into vans and shuttled to a nearby motel where they will live until they're ready for permanent housing.headtopics

news8-24-2023BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - The Aggieland Humane Society is waiving adoption fees this weekend as part of the national 'Clear the Shelters' event. The animal shelter will have special extended hours Friday and Saturday to allow community members more time to stop by to find their new furry friend. 'Everyone has done such a fantastic job stepping up and helping us in this space crisis,' said Katrina Ross, Aggieland Humane Society Executive Director. 'We're doing our part by extending those hours so that way, if you're working all day or maybe your kids have a birthday party on the weekend, you still have some time to come down to the shelter and adopt a pet for free.kbtx

news8-24-2023- One More Thing: Tonight's Debate Stage As you look at the stage in tonight's first Republican presidential debate, you'll see from left to right: AR gov Asa Hutchinson, former NJ gov Chris Christie, former VP mike pence, FL gov Ron DeSantis and businessman Vivek Ramaswamyad in the center positions, former SC gov and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, SC Sen Tim Scott, and ND Gov Doug Burgum. Obviously the 800-pound gorilla, Donald Trump, is not in the room. That's going to change the dynamic a lot though I have no idea how it will play out.koacolorado.iheart

news8-24-2023A Collingdale man has been charged with multiple counts of aggravated animal cruelty after, police said, he dropped off two sealed crates of kittens at a local veterinary clinic, leaving them outside to suffocate in the heat. Harold Thomas, 59, also faces five counts of neglect of animals, one for each kitten killed, according to court documents. Thomas did not return a request for comment Wednesday, and there was no indication he had hired an attorney. The owner of the Spayed Club Veterinary Clinic in Sharon Hill contacted the Brandywine Valley SPCA to report that a crate had been left outside of the clinic on July 15, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed in Thomas' arrest.inquirer
