They are Siamese, Supalak, Konja and Sisawat or Korat. Experts at the seminar bemoaned Thailand's lack of effective measures to conserve native breeds, saying this is why 13 are now extinct. Since native Thai cats have become rare, a kitten can cost as much as 250,000 baht (RM32,000) – especially if its traits match those described in ancient records.

Fort Wayne's Animal Care and Control has requested a 12.18% budget increase for next year to mostly pay for food, cat litter, cremation services and employee wages after seeing significant price increases. Director Amy-Jo Sites shared Tuesday the department's needs for next year during a Fort Wayne City Council budget meeting. The budgeted funds for animal supplies will be $10,000 more than last year, which marks a 66.67% increase in 2024. Sites said the Animal Control food vendor has increased prices.

Each year, the Lutheran church hosts a pet blessing ceremony during regular services on the first Sunday of October, which fell on Oct. 1 this year. 'It's a celebration of creation and a celebration of pets who serve as our companions,' said lead pastor Mark Havel, whose black lab, Rosie, attended the service. Cross of Grace has been hosting the pet blessing ceremony for at least 15 years, but this may be the first time there's ever been a goat in attendance.
